1. Urdu Scholar Gopi Chand Narang Awarded Mootidevi Award for 2010The Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari presented the Moortidevi Award for 2010 to eminent Urdu scholar Gopi Chand Narang for his outstanding work on Urdu Ghazal aur Hindustani Zehan wa Tehzeeb at a function organized by Bhartiya Jnanpith.
NOTE:- Gopi Chand Narang revived Urdu language in India through his writings and he is one of the foremost theorist, literary critic and Urdu scholar of our country. His perceptive writings have helped Urdu criticism becoming more contemporary.
2. India and Japan Signed Earths Pact on Rare Earth Minerals
India and Japan signed an Earths Pact that will enable the latter to import the rare Earth minerals from India. These rare minerals are very important for the Tech-savvy industries of Japan. The pact came as a conclusion despite postponement of India-Japan annual summit.
NOTE:- As per the signed pact, Japan will be able to import 4000 tonnes rare Earth minerals for a year from India. By signing the pact, Japan has branched out its supply from China for metals which are used in their industries.
3. Katherine Boo won US National Book Award for Mumbai Book
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and writer Katherine Boo won the National Book Award for nonfiction for Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity, which sheds light on the lives of India's poor as well as government corruption.
4. World’s Largest Marine Reserve to Protect Ocean Environment lies in Australia
Australia created the world's largest network of marine reserves, protecting more than 2.3 million square kilometres of ocean environment.
NOTE:- The announcement came after years of planning and consultation. The Marine reserve created is going to expand the protection of creatures such as the blue whale, green turtle and the critically endangered populations of grey nurse sharks, and dugongs.
The plan extension cover six marine regions and it was first made public in June 2012.
5. Ami Bera became 3rd Indian-American to win US Congressional Election
California-based, Indian-American Ami Bera, 47, has become the only 3rd of the community to win Congressional election, making it to US House of Representatives by defeating Republican Dan Lungren with just 184 votes lead.
6. Volvo Group announced to Invest Rs. 2000 Crore in India
The President and Chief Executive Officer of Volvo Group Olof Persson announced that the Volvo Group is going to Invest Rs. 2000 crore in India over the next couple of years to expand its truck, bus and construction equipment business.
NOTE:- The Proposed Investment is directed towards massive modernisation of Eicher product range, exporting the products and setting up of new engine and bus body plants, paint shop and new test facility.
7. Oman Banned Import of Eggs and Chicken from India
The Sultanate of Oman issued an official decree banning the import of eggs and chicken from India. Oman that is the biggest egg export market of India issued the ban following the recommendations of the World Organisation for Animal Health about the outbreak of bird-flu was confirmed by the Government run Turkey Farm at Hesaraghatta, Karnataka in the month of October.

French apparel company Lacoste that bear Crocodile symbol was bought by Swiss family-held group Maus Freres in a deal which was valued at 1 billion euros ($1.3 billion).
The deal came after Lacoste family conflict over management. The deal basically aims to ensure the longevity of the Lacoste brand.
NOTE:- Lacoste was founded in 1933 by French tennis champion Rene Lacoste, the brand have its logo The Crocodile from the nickname of Tennis champion Rene Lacoste which he earned for his tenacity on the court.

Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap has crashed out of the Li Ning China Open Badminton tournament in Shanghai.
NOTE:- In his quarterfinal match yesterday, Kashyap lost to Zhengming Wang of China, in straight games, 17-21, 7-21. With this, India's campaign in the tournament has come to an end.
