1. England, Wales to host 2019 cricket World Cup
ii. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially signed the agreement to stage the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
iii. The tournament will be held throughout June 2019 and will be played at 10 venues.
iv. The 2019 World Cup is scheduled to involve 10 teams and will be the first World Cup played in Britain since 1999.
NOTE: i. UK previously had conducted the first three editions in 1975, 1979 and 1983.
ii. England has never won the World Cup despite appearing in three finals.
i. Mumbai Indians won the tournament for the first time, defeating Chennai Super Kings at the final by 23 runs.
ii. Electing to bat, Mumbai Indians scored 148 for nine against Chennai Super Kings .
iii. Chasing a target of 149 runs Chennai Super Kings finished on 125 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
iv. Mumbai Indians earned a prize purse of 10 crore rupees, while runners-up Chennai Super Kings were awarded 7.5 crore rupees in the 25 crore rupees prize money tournament.
3. China Wins Sudirman Cup
i. China won their fifth consecutive Sudirman Cup and ninth overall, defeating South Korea.
ii. China’s World No. 1 Xu Chen and Ma Jin defeated their South Korean opponents Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na in straight games 21-13, 21-15 in the mixed doubles.
ii. China and South Korea are the two major competitors at Sudirman Cups since the tournament was first held in 1989.
Sudirman Cup
Sudirman Cup is the world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years.
The Cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton playerand the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI).
4. PV Sindhu Won Malaysian Open Badminton Title

ii. Sindhu, the world No.13 hit as many as 17 smash winners compared to just nine by the Singaporean girl.
iii. 17-year-old PV Sindhu, has become second Indian woman after Saina Nehwal to achieve the phenomenal feat.
5. Anita Chanu Won Bronze in Asian Judo Chamionship

ii. She defeated the judokas from Korea, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
iii. In the year 2003, she had won a bronze medal in the Asian Judo championships in Korea.
6. Prayag Chauhan Win Asian Junior Boxing even

7.Rafael Nadal Won Rome Masters
i. Spain’s Rafael Nadal beat Swiss rival Roger Federer to secure his seventh title in nine years at the Rome Masters.
ii. Nadal now has 24 Masters titles in a career total of 56.
iii. Nadal forced six break points and took five of them, while Federer managed just one break of the Nadal serve from his two break points.
8. Rupesh Shah won Asian Billiards Champion

ii. This is India’s 10th Asian Billiards title and Rupesh is new entrant in this elite club.
iii. He follows previous champions Geet Sethi, Ashok Shandilya, Devendra Joshi, Pankaj Advani and Alok Kumar.
9. Srinath Won Asian Junior Chess Title

ii. He had won the Asian Junior Championship title at Tashkent in June last also.
iii. He is also a former world under-12 champion having won it at Belfort in France in 2005.
10. Andy Murray Won Miami Masters Open

ii. Murray beat Ferrer for the seventh time in 12 career meetings.
iii. Ferrer’s only win over Murray off clay was at the 2011 ATP World Tour Finals.
