However this condition does not apply for the posts of Officer Scale 2 and Scale 3 posts as per the notification

Q. Shall I opt for “Hindi” or “English” in the examination, I am conversant with both.
Ans. Ideally you should opt for the language with which you are comfortable with, However, if you are opting for Hindi you should be well aware that not much information is available in terms of Books, Study Material, previous papers etc. so there is very little you can prepare from. Also be aware that “Hindi”, in terms of the examination implies “Academic Hindi”, so you should be aware of all the grammar rules, synonyms and antonyms in Hindi, just like in English. Mere oral knowledge of Hindi is not enough
So if you are not aware of these Hindi nuances you could have a tough time in the examination. On the other hand English is well researched by books, authors and coaching institutes and the pattern of the questions and the difficulty level is well understood, in the form of test series, previous papers etc.
So we will suggest English, however the ultimate decision is left to you.
Q. I am preparing for IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk, should I apply for this examination ?
Ans. Yes of course, you should be aware that most of these RRB’s are sponsored by major banks such as Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank etc., so it is like any other public sector bank job, the only point to note here is that your posting will be in rural areas. For candidates from smaller cities and villages it is an ideal opportunity to get a public sector bank job close to their respective hometown.
In any case, even if you are not interested in joining a RRB, there is no harm in giving the examination, it will be valuable practice for IBPS PO and Clerk examinations coming up later in the year. The syllabus is practically the same and the examination is also online, so no harm in trying, it will cost you Rs 600/- at the most.
Q. I am from a Metro City/ Big City , should I apply for this examination given that
the posting will be in rural areas ?
Ans. If you are not interested in RRB’s , we will still recommend that you apply for this , since IBPS is conducting this examination, the questions will be of similar difficulty and pattern as that of IBPS PO/Clerk and Specialist Officer, so you can treat this as valuable practice and test yourself in real examination conditions.
In any case there is no harm applying, it will only set you back by Rs 600/- at the most, you can always treat this as a back up option, in case you do not succeed in the other examinations. The world of today is a world of competition, you must avail and grab each and every opportunity which you get.
