DAILY GK UPDATE: 21ST NOVEMBER

1. RBI and the State Bank of Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) for promoting greater co-operation and sharing supervisory information, between the two supervisors.
NOTE:- The MoU between the two banks was signed at Hanoi, Vietnam in the Headquarters of State Bank of Vietnam.
2. Ajmal Kasab hanged and buried in Pune's Yerwada Jail
In a secret operation, LeT terrorist and 26/11 attacks accused Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab was hanged in the high-security Yerwada Jail in Pune at 7:30am today after a four-year-long trial. Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said he was buried inside the Yerwada Jail at 9.30am.
NOTE:- The lone surviving terrorist in the Mumbai attack of November 26, 2008 was shifted to the Yerwada Jail following the rejection of his mercy petition by the President earlier on November 5.
3. India signs $70 mn loan pact with World Bank for K’taka Health Systems Development, Reform Project
India has signed a 70-million Dollar loan agreement with the World Bank for additional financing of Karnataka Health Systems Development and Reform Project.
The main objective of the project is to improve the health services delivery, public-private collaboration and financing for the benefit of underserved and vulnerable groups in Karnataka.
NOTE:- The Agreement was signed by Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Prabodh Saxena and World Bank's India Operations Advisor, Michael Haney in New Delhi yesterday.
4. India Added 22 New Items to promote Indo-Myanmar Border Trade
Indian Government in the month of November added 22 commodities such as agricultural tools, bicycle, coal and garments in the list of items for border trade with Myanmar to boost the two-way commerce between the neighbours.
The new items added and revised in the list of 40 tradable items was confirmed in a public notice by Director General of Foreign Trade which now make the list of 62 Consolidated items.
5. President of India released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on late Ramgopal Maheshwari
President of India Pranab Mukherjee released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on late Ramgopal Maheshwari. The stamp was released in the Rastrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Maheshwari’s birth centenary year celebration.
NOTE:- Ramgopal Maheshwari was a freedom fighter and a social worker is also regarded as a doyen of Journalism in India. He was a person who worked for promotion of Hindi Language. 
5. "Yuvi"- A Book on Cricketer Yuvraj Singh authored by Makarand Waingankar Released
A book on Indian Cricketer Yuvraj Singh named "Yuvi" was released in third week of November 2012.
NOTE:- The book on Yuvraj Singh is published by Harper Sport and written by Makarand Waingankar. The book illustrates the brilliance of cricket shown by Yuvraj Singh in his career as a cricketer and the way he recovered from Cancer.
6. Gavaskar conferred with BCCI's Col C K Naidu Lifetime Achievement award
Former India captain and legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar was conferred with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the BCCI's prestigious Col C K Naidu Lifetime Achievement award at a function in Mumbai yesterday. Gavaskar described the award as the biggest in Indian cricket and said that he was honoured to receive it. The award comprises a trophy, citation and a cheque for 25 lakh rupees. Gavaskar has represented India in 125 Tests from 1970-71 to 1986-87. 
NOTE:- He was the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in Tests, and the first to play 100 consecutive Tests. He was the first batsman to surpass Sir Don Bradman's tally of 29 Test centuries. He has led India in 47 Tests. Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli were also awarded for their achievements in the international arena during the past season.
7. NAK Browne released a book Victory India-A Key to Quality Military Leadership
Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne released a book titled "Victory India - A Key to Quality Military Leadership" authored by Colonel Vinay B Dalvi (Retd) at the Air Headquarters.
NOTE:- The book has tried to present the process of identification, selection and training of the youths for moulding them into effective and inspiring military leaders of the nation.
8. LIC, EPFO to subscribe Air India's Rs 7400-crore bond
 Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC) and the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) have agreed to fully subscribe to the Rs 7,400 crore bond sale of national carrier Air India.
NOTE:- Life Insurance Corporation and the EPFO have agreed to purchase the entire Rs 7,400 crore Non-convertible debentures (NCDs) being sold by Air India.
This issue has a coupon of 9.08 per cent and will fetch 9.27 per cent for LIC and the EPFO on maturity after 19 years. LIC has subscribed to bonds worth Rs 3,000 crore and the remaining have been purchased by the EPFO.
9. Pranab Mukherjee Inaugurated the Mannam International Socio-Cultural & Charitable Centre
Pranab Mukherjee, the President of  inaugurated the Mannam International Socio-Cultural and Charitable Center at Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Auditorium. 
NOTE:- At the inaugural ceremony, the Indian President described Mannath Padmanabhan, the founder of NSS (Nair Service Society) as a visionary and social reformer, who stood against the social evils and worked for economic upliftment for the people of Kerela. 
10. Nokia India Introduced Rebranded Map Service named "HERE"
Nokia India yesterday launched its re-branded mobile map services in the Indian market.
NOTE:- The new cloud computing-based map service is called as HERE and offers maps and location-based services across multiple devices and operating systems.
The main aim of the service is to inspire a new generation of location services and devices that make the mobile experience more personally significant for people everywhere.
11Tongariro Volcano erupted in the North Island region of New Zealand
Tongariro Volcano in Mount Tongariro at Tongariro National Park, New Zealand erupted today.
NOTE:- This volcano left behind massive plume of ash billows up to 3 kilometers in the skies of Tongariro National Park in the North Island of New Zealand.
