Multiplying a 2-digit number by 1 1/15

Follow the following Steps:

  1. Multiply the number by 32.
  2. Move decimal point one place left.
  3. Divide by 3.

   Example-1:

  1. If the 2-digit number chosen to multiply by 1 1/15 is21:
  2. Multiply the number by 32: 32(21) = 630 + 42 = 672.
  3. Move decimal point one place left: 67.2.
  4. Divide by 3: 67.2/3 = 22.4.
  5. So 21 × 1 1/15 = 22.4.

   Example-2:

  1. If the number to be multiplied by 1 1/15 is 41:
  2. Multiply the number by 32: 41(32) = 1230 + 82 = 1310 + 2 = 1312.
  3. Move decimal point one place left: 131.2.
  4. Divide by 3: 131.2/3 = 43.7.
  5. So 41 × 1 1/15 = 43.7.
