United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) appointed Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as its International Goodwill Ambassador.
Her job will be now to raise global awareness on protecting children from HIV infection and to increase access to antiretroviral treatment.
The appointment came a day before the start of the annual debate at the UN General Assembly.

She is also the part of the selection process.The Super Fight League is India's first professionally organized mixed martial arts which will feature on Television.

Ramesh Abhishek, an IAS Officer of 1982 Batch Bihar Cadre, was appointed to be the New Chairman of Forward Markets Commission (FMC).
5.Dearness Allowance (DA) hiked for Union Government Employees
Union government hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) by 7%, benefiting its 80 lakh employees and pensioners and costing the exchequer an additional Rs7,408 crore annually. With the dearness allowance the pension proposals for personnel of armed forces is also allowed now.
NOTE:- The hike in the DA from 65% to 72% will cost the exchequer Rs4939 crore for the remaining part of the current financial year.

John Terry, the captain of Chelsea in the premier league announced his retirement from International Football today.
NOTE:-The central defender came up with this decision one day before the Football Association was supposed to hear the claim of using racial abusive language in the notorious Anton Ferdinand incident.

Ronjan Sodhi, the double trap shooter today won Silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Maribor, Slovania.

10.Delhi Metro Rail Corporation won work in Jakarta Metro Rail Project
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was awarded with the work of Management Consulting Services by Jakarta Metro Rail Project. Before this, DMRC assisted them in preparation of SAPI (Special Assistance on Project Implementation). The work in its first phase will be done in a distance of 15.7 kilometer. DMRC will be working in a joint-venture with eight international companies.
NOTE:- As per the contract, DMRC is responsible for creation and finalisation of the organisational structure along with development of training facilities, recruitment of personnel and their training in different segments that will be required for starting the operations of the project.
DMRC is also acting as a consultant to other metro projects of the nation that includes Chennai, Bangaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaipur (here DMRC is also looking after the construction work).

Chairperson and Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), Naveen Jindal was placed at top in the Executive Pay Chart of the listed companies for the fiscal year 2011-2012. He topped the chart for second time in a row with a package of 73.42 crore with a growth of over 6 crore to that of his last years package.
Sun TV Networks, Kavery Marana and Kalanithi were placed at second position in the chart with their package of 57.01 crore. Pawan Munjal with a package of 34.47 crore and Brijmohan Lall Munjal with a package of Rs 34.44 crore from Hero MotoCorp's are among the five highest-paid executives of the country.
