1. Manju Seth appointed as New Ambassador of India to Madagascar
Manju Seth has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Madagascar. She is presently Consul General of India in Reunion Island, which is a French-administered territory in the Indian Ocean between Mauritius and Madagaskar. An External Affairs ministry release said, Ms Manju is expected to take up her assignment shortly.

4. Government to order closure of resorts near wildlife sanctuaries
In a move to preserve and protect wildlife, the State government has decided to order closure of all private commercial resorts located in the vicinity of wildlife sanctuaries in the State.
The Forest Department’s guest houses located inside the forest will also be closed.
Minister for Forests C.P. Yogeshwar that notices would be served to owners of all private resorts asking them to close them as they are causing harm to forests and wildlife.
5. Sports Ministry sanctions Rs 4.50 cr to Haryana Govt
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has sanctioned 4.50 crore rupees to Government of Haryana for laying of artificial turf for football at Dariyapur, Fatehabad district under Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS).
6. Prasar Bharati elected to ABU administrative council
Prasar Bharati has been unanimously elected as a full member of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union's (ABU) administrative council at its general assembly held at Seoul.
NOTE:- The ABU has more than 220 member broadcasters from 58 countries and runs a daily Asia vision satellite TV news exchange, the Prasar Bharati said in a statement released in New Delhi
7. SEBI seeks special courts for speedy trials in market frauds
Worried over delays in prosecution of those found to be involved in frauds and other offences, Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI) has asked the government to set up special courts to fast-track the process of bringing the guilty to book. SEBI ChairmanU K Sinha told this to reporters in Mumbai yesterday.
8. Govt to set up regulatory body to deal with autonomy & investment in CPSEs
Central Govt. will set up a High Powered Regulatory body to look into the issues of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), including autonomy and investment. The body to be headed by Cabinet Secretary will comprise officials from Prime Minister's Office, Planning Commission, Ministries of Finance and Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. This was disclosed by the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr. Praful Patel to media persons in New Delhi this evening after meeting of the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh with the Heads of 25 CPSEs.
9, Bank of Maharashtra crosses over to a mid-sized status
Bank of Maharashtra, the lead bank for the state of Maharashtra, crossed the business level of 1.5 lakh crores. The bank posted a net profit of Rs 306.47 crores for the six month period ended Sept 30, 37.76% up compared to the same period last year, its chairman and managing director Narendra Singh announced at Pune.
NOTE:- The figure of 1.5 lakh crore is the benchmark for a bank to be considered as a mid-sized one. Banks with businesses of 3 lakh crores and above are classified as large sized banks.
