1.President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf chosen for Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2012
Liberian President and Nobel laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf  was chosen for 2012 Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for being an inspiration to women and ensuring return of peace and democracy in her country.
NOTE:- The award is set up by Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust with an international jury chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
2.Moody's downgrade France credit rating
credit ratings agency Moody's has downgraded France from its top rating. The country's debt has been reduced from AAA to AA1 and has kept its negative outlook, meaning it could be downgraded again. 
NOTE:-In a statement, Moody's blamed the risk of a Greek exit from the euro, stalled economic growth and the chances that France will have to contribute to bailing out other countries. Rival agency Standard & Poor's downgraded France in January.
3. Anil Dev Singh became the new Chairperson of IOA Election Panel
Anil Dev Singh, the former Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on was appointed as the new Chairperson of the Election Commission of The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after S.Y. Quraishi resigned from his post on 17 November 2012. 
NOTE:-This appointment was done by Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the Acting President of IOA at present. 
4. Asian under 10 Girls Chess Champion N Priyanka Won World Youth Chess Championship
Asian under 10 girls chess champion Nuthaki Priyanka bagged the world youth chess championship at Maribor, Slovenia on 18 November 2012. She completed with 9.5 points of 11 rounds. 
 5. 43rd edition of International Film Festival of India starts in Goa
43rd edition of the International Film Festival of India began at Panaji in Goa this evening. 
NOTE:- Noted cine-actor Akshay Kumar inaugurated the 10-day cinematic extravaganza by lighting a traditional lamp in the distinguished presence of Goa Governor Mr. Bharat Vir Wanchoo, Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar, Union minister for Information & Broadcasting Mr. Manish Tiwari, and I&B secretary Mr. Uday Kumar Verma.
6. Govt campaign Swabhimaan helps create banking services in 74,000 habitations
The financial inclusion campaign of Central Government, called Swabhimaan has helped create banking services in 74,000 habitations with a population of over 2000 in the country. Under the campaign about 3.16 crore new bank accounts were opened till March this year.
NOTE:- In India, only 58 percent of total population is availing banking facility.
7. India with 39 countries voted against a UN General Assembly draft resolution
 India was among the 39 countries that voted against a UN General Assembly draft resolution which called for abolishing the death penalty. The non-binding resolution called for a moratorium on executions with a view to abolishing the death penalty. It was adopted yesterday at the General NOTE:-Assembly's Third Committee, which deals with social and humanitarian issues. 110 nations voted in favour of the resolution while 36 abstained.The draft resolution expresses its "deep concern about the continued application of the death penalty and calls on states to establish a moratorium on executions, with a view to abolishing the practice.
8. India beat England by 9 wickets in Ahmedabad Cricket Test
India broke through England's resistance with a morning burst of 5 wickets by surging to a comprehensive 9 wickets victory in the opening Test at Motera in Ahemdabad on Monday. India now lead 1-0 in the 4 match series. Needing 77 runs to record their first win at this venue in 7 years, India achieved the target when they made 80 for the loss of one wicket in 15.3 overs 
9. Govt plans more Centers of Excellence for sports
Government plans to increase the numbers of Centers of Excellence for different sports in the country. Addressing a function to mark 25 year of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, NYKS, in New Delhi today, NOTE:- Sports minister Jitendra Singh said, recognition of talent at an early age and proper grooming in the areas of interest is a must for further development of sports in the country. He said youth clubs under NYKS will be computerized soon to provide up-to-date information about its programmes in the country. He called for further strengthening such programmes in Jammu and Kashmir, North-East and Naxal affected areas.
10. Airtel Completed Largest Network Transformation in Africa
Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications services provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, in the month of November completed a network transformation programme across its mobile operations in 16 African countries in partnership with Ericsson.
NOTE:- The programme involved upgradation and expansion of network elements on all of Airtel's African operations, including switching, radio, network management, data, charging, and consumer-services platforms and systems, the company said in a statement.
11. China State Broadcaster Auctioned Prime Time Slot at a Record Price
China’s main state broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV) in the month of November raised a record 15.88 billion Yuan (US$2.5 billion) by selling prime-time advertising spots for year 2013.
12. Death of Savita Halappanavar Ignited Strong Reactions for Change in Irish Abortion Law
Indian origin dentist Savita Halappanavar died in Ireland on 28 October 2012 at the University College Hospital Galway after the doctors refused her abortion despite hers body being sick and weak due to 17 weeks of pregnancy. The doctors had refused her abortion on the basis of catholic tenets. Eventually it led to septicemia or blood poisoning that led to her death.
NOTE:-Savita suffered miscarriage and when she went to University College Hospital Galway, she was refused abortion saying that there was still the fetal heartbeat. 
13. Visiting Adi Godrej led India biz delegation sees investment opportunities in Lanka
Indian business delegation led by CII President Mr Adi Godrej sees a number of investment opportunities in Sri Lanka in the pharma, automobile, consumer goods, infrastructure and hospitality sector. 
NOTE:- The delegation had interactions with a cross section of businessmen and top government functionaries in Colombo yesterday and will meet Economic Development Minister Mr Basil.
