As per a recent circular by Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services (Circular No. 10/30/3/2012-IR) it has been suggested that upcoming exam of IBPS PO 3 will have a criteria of minimum 60% marks in graduation.
After looking into concern of thousands of visitors of this website, and after a detailed analysis at our end, we found that more than 40% of the candidates who aspire for IBPS PO exam, do not have more than 60% marks in graduation, which will mean that they will not be able to apply for this upcoming exam.
We feel that it is unjustified & unfair to keep such a criteria for IBPS PO 3, on the basis of following grounds -
1. This is important, as in India, the marking system of various universities differ from each other. Some universities are lenient in giving marks, while some give marks conservatively in graduation courses.
2. Also, there is also a difference in marking system for various stream. Generally, Science or Engineering Stream candidates get good marks, while, Art students do not get marks similar to their science/engineering counterparts. So, keeping marks at 60% for filling vacancies, will create a dis-balance in the level playing field for candidates.
3. Largest Bank of India - State Bank of India - is hiring for same post but do not have such criteria as above. A candidate need only a graduation degree to participate in the recruitment process of Probationary Officer. So, it is sounds really surprising that a candidate can be a PO in SBI but he/she can not be a PO in Bank of Baroda /PNB etc.
4. There are many other competitive exams of national repute like SSC and UPSC, these are also being used by the government for the recruitment of IAS Officers, Class A and Class B Officers, but even these exams do not have a minimum 60% criteria like in case of IBPS PO. So, it is ironical that a person with less than 60% marks, can become an IAS Officer but he can not be a Bank Officer.
Hence looking into the injustice and unfairness to candidates, we have decided to be the voice of suffering candidates and take it to the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Finance. As a first step, we have started a online petition against this new rule of 60% marks in graduation. We request you to please sign this online petition. It will hardly take 5-10 seconds of yours. Also, ask your friends to sign it, as the more number we will have the more impact, it can have on the decision making of the government. We want to present to this petition to Government before the notification of IBPS PO III, as once notification is out, it will be very difficult to get it revised. So, we request that please sign it as early as possible and also suggest your friends to sign it as soon as possible.
