India's Virat Kohli today rewarded for his dream run in the last 12 months as he was named the ODI Cricketer of the Year, while Kumar Sangakkara walked away with three honours, including the Cricketer of the Year, in the ICC annual awards function in Colombo.
2. Planning commission pegged growth rate at 8.2% for 12th plan
In Planning commission meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to approve the 12th five year Plan document, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia revised average growth target of 8.2 percent for the period.

CBI has registered 5 cases in connection with illegal iron ore export scam worth Rs 2500 crore and carried out searches at 17 locations, including in the premises of associates of jailed mining baron G Janardhan Reddy.

58th Commonwealth Parliamentarian conference concluded today in Colombo. Deputy Speaker Chandrima Weerakkody said special attention was focused on finding solutions to terrorism, unemployment, media freedom and several other sectors. Nearly 800 members of Parliament and Speakers from 54 Commonwealth countries attended the conference.
NOTE:- The next conference will be held in South Africa next year.
5. Finance Minister suggests creation of National Investment Board to decide on major investment proposals in infrastructure sector.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram today suggested that the Government must seriously consider the need to set up a mechanism at the Cabinet level to take final decisions on major investment proposals, especially in the infrastructure sector and, in particular, areas such as roads, power, coal, oil, gas and railways.
6. Haryana govt decides to implement e-Pension System
Haryana Government has decided to implement e-Pension System to disburse pension to all pensioners and family pensioners of the state.They will start drawing their pension through this system on or after August 1, 2012.
7. Jet Fuel - ATF price rises to Rs73,711 per kilolitre
Jet Fuel - ATF - price was today raised by about 2 per cent to Rs. 73,711 per kilolitre. According to Indian Oil Corporation ATF at T3 terminal in Delhi has been hiked by 1,429 rupees per kilolitre or 1.97 per cent with effect from midnight tonight. The ATF price hike is trigerred by firming international oil rates and dip in rupee value against the US dollar.

K.S. Sudarshan, who needled the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other BJP leaders during his nine-year tenure as RSS chief, died today following heart attack. He was 81.

The Kerala cluster of four static coastal surveillance sensors, envisaged as part of the first phase of the network of sensors to be set up across the country, and their remote operating station (ROS) were commissioned by the Director General of Coast Guard Vice-Admiral M.P. Muralidharan at the Coast Guard District Headquarters No.4 at Fort Kochi .
