Dividing a 2-digit number by 875

Follow the following Steps:
  1. Select a 2-digit number.
  2. Multiply it by 8.
  3. Divide by 7.
  4. Move the decimal point 3 places to the left.

   Example:1

  1. The 2-digit number chosen to divide by 875
    is 31.
  2. Multiply by 8: 31 × 8 = 248
  3. Divide by 7: 248/7 = 35 3/7
  4. Move the decimal point 3 places to the left: .035 3/7
  5. So 31 divided by 875 = .035 3/7.

 Example:2

  1. The 2-digit number chosen to divide by 875
    is 63.
  2. Multiply by 8: 8 × 63 = 480 + 24 =
    480 + 20 + 4 = 500 + 4 = 504
  3. Divide by 7: 504/7 = 72
  4. Move the decimal point 3 places to the left: .072
  5. So 63 divided by 875 = .072.
