On first day called Nahai Khai, devotees are having a ritualistic bath in Ganga and other rivers.
The Administration has made all arrangements for maintaining the cleanness of Ganga Ghat.
People are busy decorating the Ganga Ghat and also road sides.
2. Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray passed away
Shiv Sena patriarch Balsaheb Thackeray is no more. He died Mumbai at 3 30 P.M.
NOTE:- 86 years old Bal Thackeray was suffering from multiple organ failure. Since Wednesday his health has been deteriorating. He is survived by sons Jaidev and Uddhav, who is the Executive President of the party.
3. Eminent Kuchipudi dancer Vedantam passed away
Eminent Kuchipudi dancer Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma died at a hospital in Vijayawada today following an illness. He was 77.
NOTE:- Sarma, a famous male exponent of female roles in the Kuchipudi dance tradition, was known for his acts as Satyabhama and Usha.
4. PM leaves for Cambodia tomorrow to attend ASEAN, East Asia Summits
Strengthening maritime security and enhancing trade with ASEAN countries will figure prominently in the 10th India-ASEAN and 7th East Asia Summits in the Cambodian capital Phonem Phen.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is leaving New Delhi on Sunday to participate in the three-day summit.India is likely to push for widening Free Trade Area (FTA). The trade between India and ASEAN remained at 79 Billion dollars in 2011-12.
5. Chief Minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda announced Tablet Computers for Students
Chief Minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda on the 13th Foundation Day of the State announced tablet computers for students who will pass matriculation. The Chief Minister made this announcement to prepare students of the states against the challenges that they would face in the tough competitive world of 21st Century.
6. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Inaugurated New Helpline Service for Women
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence in Lucknow inaugurated the New Hepline service 1090 for women.
NOTE:- The much-hyped Women's Power phone helpline '1090' is basically a pilot project of Uttar Pradesh Police as it was stewarded by Navneet Sikera, the Lucknow deputy inspector general of police (DIG). The helpline is largely aimed at counseling first-time offenders and if the offences continued, police would initiate legal measures against repeat offenders.
7. Iran is further expanding its nuclear capacity
Iran is further expanding its nuclear capacity by installing more centrifuges at an underground enrichment plant.
NOTE:- This was stated in the UN nuclear watchdog's latest report. Nearly 2,800 centrifuges have been installed at the Fordow fuel enrichment plant, buried deep inside a mountainous region, near the city of Qom, an increase of about 644 centrifuges compared to the previous report released in August.
8. India summons Irish Ambassador to convey its concern over the death of an Indian dentist who was refused abortion in Ireland 
India today summoned Irish Ambassador Feilim McLaughlin in connection with the death of an Indian national, who was refused abortion in a Dublin hospital.
NOTE:- According to a statement by External Affairs Ministry,  Secretary (West) M Ganapathi, in his meeting with Irish Ambassador, expressed India's concern and angst in the society over the untimely and tragic death of 31-year-old dentist Savita Halappanavar hailing from Karnataka.
9. Selvarasa Pathmanathan or KP, the former LTTE leader, now in protective custody of Sri Lanka
Selvarasa Pathmanathan or KP, the former LTTE leader, now in protective custody of Sri Lanka, says he was interrogated twice by the CBI in 2010 and 2011 in connection with the murder of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
NOTE:- India has put Pathmanathan on INTERPOL’s wanted list. In an interview published today in a Sri Lankan newspaper, the Daily Mirror, Pathmanathan claims that the CBI had seemed satisfied with the information that he gave them, pleading innocence in the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.
10. 2-day international conference on Equitable Access to Justice-Legal Aid and Legal Empowerment, held in New Delhi today. 
Law and Justice Minister Dr Ashwani Kumar has said that India is in harmony with the aspirations of the democratic world that strives for establishing principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. Dr Kumar said in India, efforts are being made on improving legal empowerment, which ranges from law clinics run through law universities, para-legal programmes and legal awareness programmes.
11.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh leaves for Cambodia tomorrow to attend the ASEAN and East Asia Summits.
He is expected to pitch for increased trade and investment between India and ASEAN countries. The Prime Minister is also expected to update the ASEAN leaders on the progress made on revival of the centre of learning at Nalanda, Bihar. India and ASEAN are holding negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement in Services and Investment and are keen to conclude these before the Summit on November 19. The two sides have already signed an FTA in Goods.
The Prime Minister, who was initially scheduled to visit Japan also before it was cancelled, will be in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh for three days. The three-day visit to Japan from November 15 was cancelled just a day ahead in view of sudden political developments there.
that the trade between India and ASEAN countries has been increasing at rapid pace over the last few years and has already crossed the USD 70 billion target set for 2012. It currently stands at USD 79 billion. India's trade with ASEAN was over USD 50 billion in 2011-12 after a 30 per cent jump over the previous financial year.
12. Japan’s Lower House of Parliament the House of Representatives, dissolved
The Japanese Lower House of Parliament-the House of Representatives was dissolved and paved the way ahead to general elections scheduled on 16 December 2012.
Takahiro Yokomichi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives read out the imperial decree signed by Emperor Akihito to parliament, which proclaimed the dissolution of the government.
13. International News Agencies Boycotted India England Test Series
International news agencies boycotted the high-profile Test series between India and England which began with its first test in Ahmedabad to protest against the restrictions imposed by the BCCI on some photo agencies covering the tour.
