1. RBI Survey lowers GDP growth projection to 5.7% from 6.5% for current fiscal
Reserve Bank has said despite high inflation it would take steps to support growth in the half- yearly review of monetary policy tomorrow.
RBI said the Survey of Professional Forecasters has lowered the GDP growth projection to 5.7 per cent from 6.5 per cent for the current fiscal. Average wholesale price based inflation forecast is revised upwards to 7.7 per cent from 7.3 per cent. It said the global growth prospects, both in advanced and emerging economies have weakened and the euro zone troubles have affected business confidence and caused deceleration in global trade. It said sustaining the reform initiatives of the government would be the precursor for a turnaround in economic activity.
2. Australian university announced scholarship after cricketer Donald Bradman for Indian students
University of Wollongong, Australia has announced a scholarship named after legendary cricketer Donald Bradman for Indian students. The scholarship is to be awarded to an Indian student who wants to play the game and undergo study also.
NOTE:- The scholarship would be given to a student who demonstrates strong participation in cricket. He will have half his or her tuition fees paid for the duration of a degree at the University of Wollongong, near Sydney. The university is offering the scholarship with the Bradman Foundation, a charitable trust established in 1987 to promote cricket as a cultural and sporting force.

The first ever coal museum of the North-East region was inaugurated today at mineral rich Margherita in Tinsukia district of Assam. The project both in indoor and outdoor pattern, is perhaps the first in the country of its kind.
4. The President will inaugurate the Viswa Malayala Mahotsavam 2012 
The President will inaugurate the Viswa Malayala Mahotsavam 2012 tomorrow in  Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Later,at a function in Raj Bhavan he will flag off the Jan Vigyan Yatra. This is the first visit of Mr.Pranab Mukherjee to the state  after assuming charge as President.
5. Indira Gandhi International Airport Got International Certification
Indira Gandhi International Airport operator, Delhi International Airport (P) Limited (DIAL) got an ISO 20000 International Certification for eliminating and controlling information technology-related threats.
With the getting of ISO certification, Delhi International Airport (P) Limited (DIAL) became the sixth airport operator to receive the ISO 20000 certification in IT Service Management System (ITSMS) after Dubai, Munich, Abu Dhabi, Incheon and Hyderabad.
NOTE:- ISO 20000-1:2011 is a service management system (SMS) standard which specifies requirements for the service provider to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve an SMS.
6. Sourav Ganguly no longer to play in IPL
Quelling all speculation over his availability for the Indian Premier League (IPL), former India captain Sourav Ganguly has announced his decision to quit all forms of the game, including the IPL.
Ganguly, who had retired from international cricket a few years back, has been playing first class cricket and turned out for Pune Warriors during the last two IPLs.
7. Govt's deficit cut plan adds to pressure for RBI rate cut
The government vowed to rein in the country's hefty fiscal deficit, increasing the pressure on the RBI on the eve of its next policy meeting to cut interest rates for the first time since April.
Finance Minister P. Chidambaram pledged to nearly halve its fiscal deficit by March 2017 in a bid to avoid a credit rating downgrade and persuade the central bank to lower rates, but offered few concrete steps.
NOTE:- The Reserve Bank of India, which has kept interest rates on hold as it worries about persistent inflation and the country's fiscal deficit, said that recent reforms by New Delhi mark a step in the right direction, but more was needed.

N. C. Soundaravalli, noted classical musician who carved a niche for herself in the devotional music genre, passed away on Monday after a brief illness. She was 76.
