Multiplying a 2-digit number by 79

Follow the following Steps

  1. Select a 2-digit number.
  2. Multiply it by 8.
  3. Add one zero.
  4. Subtract that number from the original number.

   Example:1

  1. The 2-digit number chosen to multiply by 79 is 21.
  2. Multiply by 8: 8 × 21 = 168.
  3. Add one zero: 1680.
  4. Subtract that from the original number: 1680 - 21 = 1660 - 1 = 1659.
  5. So 79 × 21 = 1659.
   Example:2
    1. The 2-digit number chosen to multiply by 79 is 52.
    2. Multiply by 8: 8 × 52 = 416.
    3. Add one zero: 4160.
    4. Subtract that from the original number: 4160 - 52 = 4108.
    5. So 79 × 52 = 4108.
